This design takes the traditional Jacobean floral and adds a contemporary twist to it. Photographed tube lights are manipulated to create the flowers. I created these designs to be large-scale wall coverings but they can also be printed in a smaller scale on a door, flooring or other surfaces.
These prints were designed to reflect traditional floral and floral vine wallpaper using light bulbs and photography. I wanted to transform the surface making the design appear dimensional and lit up. These designs are printed on wallpaper and UV printed on wood.
The main focus of these designs are to transform a flat surface into one that appears lit up, dimensional, and somewhat distorted. These designs are influenced by a few light artists, Dan Flavin, James Turrell, and Robert Irwin, in addition to Op Art and Victor Vasarely. Through my project, I focused on color relationships between surfaces, lighting, and reflections. I used different printing techniques to enhance the design, for example, using the uv embossing and glossy effects to transform the flat surface. I created these designs to be large-scale wall coverings but they can also be printed in a smaller scale on a door, flooring or other surfaces.
This print collection explores markmaking through digital and hand created marks and processes. The prints were then dye sub printed and manipulated during the transfer process onto polyester.
These designs were uv printed on acrylic.
